Korea Re-Entry Permit Guide for Foreigners
If you hold a long-term visa and plan to leave Korea temporarily, you may need a re-entry permit to return without invalidating your residence status. Rules have changed over the years — eligibility for re-entry without a separate permit can depend on visa type and issuance date — verify on HiKorea or 1345 before travel. This guide explains when you need one and how to apply.

Who needs a re-entry permit?
Generally, foreigners with an ARC who leave Korea for temporary travel need either:
- A single re-entry permit — for one departure and return
- A multiple re-entry permit — valid for multiple trips within the permit period
Some long-term visa holders received multiple re-entry authorization automatically on their ARC — check the back of your card and HiKorea for your status. When in doubt, call 1345 before booking flights.
How to apply
- Confirm requirement on HiKorea for your visa type
- Book an immigration appointment or use eligible online application
- Bring ARC, passport, and application fee (approximately ₩30,000 single / ₩50,000 multiple — confirm current fees)
- Apply before departure — airport same-day applications are not reliable
