Korea Visa Documents Checklist

Stack of passports and travel documents for visa applications

Visa paperwork in Korea varies by nationality, purpose of stay, and visa category — but the same preparation principles apply everywhere: complete documents, correct format, and on-time submission. Use this checklist as a starting point and confirm specifics for your case on HiKorea or with immigration.

Before you start

  • Identify your exact visa type (D-2, E-7, F-4, etc.)
  • Check whether you apply at a Korean embassy abroad or immigration office in Korea (extensions and changes are usually in Korea)
  • Download the current application form from HiKorea — forms update periodically
  • Confirm whether documents must be issued within 3 months (common requirement)

Core documents (most applications)

  • Valid passport (6+ months validity recommended)
  • Completed visa application form
  • Passport photos (size per embassy or immigration office spec)
  • Visa application fee receipt
  • Proof of purpose of stay (employment, enrollment, family, etc.)

Documents by common purposes

Work visa (E-7 and similar)

  • Employment contract
  • Company business registration
  • Educational credentials (degree, transcripts — translated if required)
  • Job description matching visa category requirements

Student visa (D-2)

  • Certificate of admission from Korean institution
  • Proof of tuition payment or scholarship
  • Financial proof (bank balance, sponsor letter)

Visa extension (in Korea)

  • Current ARC (if already registered)
  • Updated proof of continued eligibility (employment, enrollment, etc.)
  • Accommodation confirmation

K-ETA (visa-free entry)

Travelers from visa-waiver countries may need K-ETA before flying to Korea. Apply at the official K-ETA site with passport details and a photo. Processing is usually quick but apply at least 72 hours before departure. HezoKorea can assist with document questions if your situation is non-standard.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Submitting documents older than the allowed issuance window
  • Missing certified translation on foreign-language documents
  • Mismatch between job title on contract and visa category requirements
  • Incomplete address or accommodation proof
  • Missing appointment at immigration (walk-in wait times can exceed hours)

Our visa document service provides English checklists and review before you submit.
